Hair Salon Furniture is a mandatory cost of business for professionals who are looking to establish their own hair salon. There are many options available to professionals who need to purchase their hair salon furniture, but first, let's take a cursory look at the type of hair salon furniture you will be required to purchase or lease for your salon:

Barber Chair(s)
This is probably the most evident requirement as far as hair salon furniture is concerned. When you wait on your clients, you will need to seat them in a chair. If you are looking to purchase a new barber chair, expect to pay anywhere from $1,000 upwards to $15,000 for an ultra-luxurious model (no, they are not cheap).

When purchasing your barber chair(s) consider the type of message you are trying to send to your clientelle. While most patrons will not care whether you spent your life's savings on that very chair, if you are looking to establish yourself as an ultra-high-end hair salon, you may need to splurge for more than the basic-grade chair.

Styling Station

Another mandatory equipment insofar as hair salon furniture is the stylig station. Just as the barber chair is a requirement when it comes to hosting guests in your hair salon, the styling station is required in order to wait on those clients. A comprehensive styling station (including drawyers, desktop, and mirror) can cost as little as $500 brand new. Of course, you could probably find alternatives to the pre-built variety by buying your own mirror (many hair salon owners who are just starting off on their own will do this) and having a friend or family member assemble a self-designed styling station.

One way to design your own would be to visit your nearest Home Depot or other hardware store and spending a bit of time in their cabinet area. Remember, all you need is a couple of drawers and a desktop (which is very similar to a counter top).

Display Rack

One of the most profitable areas of your hair salon will be supplies that you sell and/or recommend to your clients. When they see you using the product you recommend and, of course, they enjoy the product you put in their hair, they are more likely to want to purchase their own supply. Whether is a bottle of shampoo, a bottle of styling gel, or even a brush/comb gift set, you will need to have a display rack that will be used to entice your clients into purchasing the product you have used in their hair.

Reception Desk

Of course, a reception desk is optional hair salon furniture if you will operate out of your own home. However, if you are looking to establish your own independant location, you will need to purchase a reception desk. By itself, the desk will cost upwards of $1,000 not including other accessories like a cash register or point of sale system (like a computer) with printer and payment machine.

Dryers

If you are looking to establish a female clientelle, you are sure to need dryer stations. Fortunately dryers are relatively cheap (under $500) for the lower-end units but can reach as high as $2,000 for a high-end luxury unit. Again, consider the image you are aiming to project when you decinde on your dryer station.
